Payne Stewart Memorial

Payne and Tracey Stewart’s heart for urban and minority children and the mission of KAA Camps has been clearly evident by their faithful support. The Stewart children spent their summers at Kanakuk Kamps, the sister camp to KAA. Payne’s children had a profound influence on his growing relationship with God.

Following a tragic plane accident in October 1999 that took the life of renowned professional golfer Payne Stewart, his widow Tracey selected KAA to permanently construct the Payne Stewart Memorial Golf & Leadership Complex. She selected KAA because the desire to impact kids and the love of golf were dear to her and Payne’s hearts. Tracey recognized that the urban kids in America ‘s cities grow more desperate every day and witnessed first-hand the dramatic impact that KAA has on them. This amazing addition has provided the perfect setting at KAA to introduce urban campers to the game of golf.

The Payne Stewart Memorial Leadership Center, which opened in June 2006, serves as a multipurpose educational facility and guest lodge. A large portion of the center is a leadership training area for our Kaleos, who are youth leaders that work with and bring the kids to KAA. This training area includes a resource center, chapel, and several meeting rooms to facilitate leadership development programs.

In addition to the training area, two rooms are designated to provide biblical character education and life skills training programs to our urban youth. Finally, there are seven guest rooms along with a gathering room that allow more individuals interested in learning about KAA the ability to visit the camp, enjoy the beauty of the Ozarks and see the great work that God is doing.
